It's Moving Day!!

So, it was more like moving weekend.  It took us 2 trips in the 17 foot moving van, and 4 trips in the truck to get everything out of our apartment and into the garage.  It was an exhausting weekend, but we are finally all moved out of our apartment.  While we were moving, we had people working on scraping the popcorn ceiling and removing the wallpaper. Of course, we removed the Conestoga wagon wall paper with easy, and revealed another layer of green and gold wallpaper that was probably on the walls from the time the house was first built.

While we were moving in, the daughter of the woman who used lived in the house stopped by to talk with us for a bit.  We found out that they were the original owners of the home and the mother ,Ursela, loved her house very much.  It was hard for her to leave, but they decided it was best for her to move because of health and safety issues.   I hope that they will pass the message onto her that although we are going to make some major changes to update her house, we will love it as much as she does.

Waiting patiently, but my patience is getting thinner by the day!

We began our house search at the beginning of April, 2012.  After putting in more than 25 offers on homes and being turned down again and again, we finally went into escrow on August 3, 2012.  It is now Thanksgiving, and we believe we may actually close before the end of the month.  These past four months have been a very bumpy ride; getting a home loan has become a very complicated task.  We are both very excited to start our lives together in our new home, and to start renovating our "new old house"!

This home was built in 1966 and we believe it has only been owned by one family.  There have been a few additions and renovations over the years, but it is extremely outdated and ready for some upgrades.

Here is the video from our first walk-through during our home inspection, the video is horrible, but I think you can get the gist of how outdated this home really is!
